    主讲人简介:

    Dr. Meng Gong is Professor of Innovative Wood Products and Timber Engineering and the Director of Wood Science and Technology Centre, the University of New Brunswick, Canada. He was appointed in 2016 as New Brunswick Innovation Research Chair by the Government of New Brunswick, Canada, leading a 5-year research program on Advanced Wood Products and Construction. Dr. Gong is the voting member of the Canadian Commission on Construction Materials Evaluations, National Research Council (NRC), Canada, since 2017. He serves on the Standards Council of Canada’s Mirror Committee to ISO and IEC as a member of ISO/TC218 Timber. Dr. Gong has published more than 180 referred research papers and over 80 technical reports regarding wood science and engineering. He is also the academic editor of many journals such as Buildings. Dr. Gong’s current research interests include innovative EWPs, tiny wooden houses, and life cycle assessment of wood products and timber buildings.

    报告摘要:

    Wood—a natural, sustainable, and renewable biocomposite—has a long history of serving humanity as a primary construction material. Advances in technology have led to the development of a wide range of modern engineered wood products (EWPs), such as laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and cross?laminated timber (CLT), which are now widely adopted in the construction sector. This talk will introduce the use of EWPs in building construction and explore how wood buildings contribute to climate change mitigation and support the principles of a circular economy.
